HISTORICAL INFO
The rose is one of the most recognisable flowers with a rich fragrance that has perfumed human history for centuries. From the ancient gardens of Persia where it was believed to be first cultivated, to extravagant Roman banquets, the rose has symbolised love, passion, innocence, sympathy, desire and luxury.
The use of rose water dates back to at least the early Roman times where people enjoyed bathing in it. Monks were said to have given it to nuns to drink to ease depression.
Rose water has anti-bacterial and antiseptic properties. It holds sacred importance for many religions including Muslim, Hindu and Christianity. More recently rose water has been added to body and facial creams and is widely used as a skin toner.
